The Restaurant
Lowery's first opened its doors in 1938. Wesley and Lorelle Lowery founded Lowery's and watched it grow from a small lunch counter to a Family Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant has seen many renovations over the years with the latest taking place in 1997 when the front decor and the kitchen went through make overs. Lowery's is a family restaurant serving Lunch and Dinner 7 days a week and offering weekend breakfast 8am - 10:30am Saturday and Sunday. Daily specials are available for both lunch and dinner.
Tappahannock is older than Richmond, Fredericksburg and even Williamsburg. Captain John Smith landed here in 1608 but was driven back to his Shallop by the local indians. On May 12 2007 a small company of Volunteers left Jamestown to reenact Captain John Smiths exploration of the Chesapeake and her tributaries. This re-enactment will take place over 121 days and the Shallop is scheduled to be at the June Parker Marina here in Tappahannock on August 12th.
Tappahannock is an Native American word meaning on the rise and fall of water and Rappahannock ,the name of the river, means rise and fall of water.
When Wesley and Lorelle Lowery started the restaurant back in 1938 little did they know that nearly 70 years later Lowery's would be feeding its forth generation. Lowery's is still owned and operated by the Lowery family. The family is extremely lucky to have a dedicated Management staff that are committed as the family. One of the main ingredients to Lowery's success is the many present and past staff members who have given their best day in and day out for years.Lowery's has over 70 dedicated staff members that are working to make sure you have the best service and the quality food you expect from Lowery's.
